I really like how Lucian Freud manages to mix really high chroma colors into his shadow tones- the hot pink around the eyes of his self portrait, the blues and purples and pinks in his portrait of Queen Elizabeth.  This gives his figures a crazy glow. His brush strokes are also very sculptural like he’s molding the face in three dimensions while working on canvas.

Senz Wen’s art mixes a gritty humor with contemporary aesthetic and can easily fit into any street or gallery setting.  He incorporates a lot of styles, techniques, patterns, textures, and anything else he can get his head and hands on.

find him on flickr or facebook.

Here are links to pictures of three artists I appreciate greatly Jon Saccaro, Georges Mathieu, and Brion Gysin. Also I added a link to something that interests me very much.

I have been wondering what to post to this badass website that Denton created.  These are the first things I thought of:

Below is the link to the international design competition I was talking about during my presentation.  It is called the Land Art Generator Initiative.  The link will take you to the ‘portfolio of submissions’, but I highly recommend taking a look around the website!  It is so much fun and something of the future.

Below is one of the coolest things I have ever seen.  People say this all the time but, really….  It is video mapping on to Prague’s Astronomical Clock for it’s 600th Anniversary.  Art comes in all forms!  Check out ‘video mapping’ if you like what you see! They do an inspiring job of it over in Eastern Europe!

Enjoy! 😀

then check this guy out and listen/watch his lectures

James Jean has always been a great influence; not only for my paintings, but for all my work.  He paints surreal worlds with mutant elephants, creepy children, and other figures and forms that melt/drip/ooze a blend of neon and pastel.  While his style is constantly evolving he never loses his identity in his work. It is haunting but balanced by a skill that is familiar, beautiful, and delicate.
